Course Fees

In a Scheduled Class or Group: $85.00 per person.

Private Class (minimum of 3): $125.00 per person.

We prefer Cash, we will accept a Check on any Local Bank.

No Credit or Debit Cards.

We schedule a maximum of 10 people per class. If you want to reserve a seat you can come by the gun shop and pay your fee in advance. If you cancel at least 48 hours before the class, we will reschedule you in a future class. If you do not show or do not cancel by noon on Thursday you forfeit your payment.

Class Info:

All classes are held in our Classroom here at Jimmie's Gun Shop. The Range is conveniently located directly behind the gun shop. We have complimentary coffee, water, and a few snacks, and you are also welcome to bring you own.

We will NOT take a break for lunch but you are more than welcome to bring lunch with you. We will conduct a working lunch.

The course starts at 9am and will last at least 6 Hours, or usually a little longer. Normally we are finished by 3:30 or so, but will vary with the size of the class, and the amount of discussion.

There will be a 25 question written test with a minimum passing score of at least 70%.

Class Topics:

Handgun Use and Safety, including use of restraint holsters and methods to ensure the secure carrying of openly carried handguns.

Non-Violent Dispute Resolution

Proper Storage Practices for Handguns

Laws that Relate to Weapons and the use of Deadly Force (2 Parts)

Texas Law has changed the requirement for the classroom portion. It must be from to 4 to 6 hours, but that time cannot include breaks, reviews, the test, and the Range. Classes are normally scheduled for Saturday or Sunday.

Groups and individuals can schedule any day of the week with at least two days notice.

For the Range:

You must wear long pants, Cap or Hat, no loose fitting clothing, shoes that cover your entire foot. Eye and Ear Protection are required on the Range, you may bring your own, they are also available at Jimmie's Gun Shop.

Ammo is available for purchase. 50 rounds are required for the certification.

Proficiency Exam:

The Shooting Proficiency Exam is NOT a shooting lesson. You must be able to pass the exam with minimum passing score of 175.
